Eric Andre, comedian and actor, was the unexpected victim of a horrific WWE beatdown on the June 15 episode of WWE Raw, when Jacob Fatu dragged him into the ring and attacked him in a segment that instantly went viral online.
The shocking moment unfolded during an appearance by Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, leaving fans wondering what Andre did to deserve the beatdown.
Why did Jacob Fatu attack Eric Andre?
According to the storyline on Raw, Andre and Fatu did not have any personal feud between them.
The segment started with Roman Reigns, Fatu, and The Usos addressing the audience. During the promo, Reigns officially welcomed Fatu into The Bloodline and awarded him with a ceremonial Ula Fala, marking an important milestone in the faction’s continuing storyline.
As the trio exited the ring, Reigns and Jey Uso exchanged brief greetings with Andre, who was seated ringside; meanwhile, he was ignored by Jimmy Uso. However, when he patted Jacob Fatu’s back multiple times and touched the ceremonial Ula Fala, the Samoan Werewolf snapped.
Fatu pulled the comedian and pulled him out of the audience section, and dargged him into the ring, and went on to deliver multiple headbutts until WWE officials rushed to intercede.
Roman Reigns came near the ringside and tried to calm things down until he signalled Fatu to body slam him from the top rope. As the wrestlers were leaving the ringside, Reigns ordered Fatu to do it again, and he body slammed Eric Andre once again.
Roman Reigns, aka The Only Tribal Chief, seemed amused by the situation, watching the WWE officials attempt to restore order. At one point, The Only Tribal Chief also told the camera that the assault was intended to put everyone “on notice,” reinforcing The Bloodline’s authoritative on-screen persona.
The segment was played primarily for entertainment, with no explanation offered for why Andre especially became the focus. Some speculated that touching the Ula Fala was the reason.
Why was Eric Andre at WWE Raw?
Eric Andre was a special guest at Raw, reportedly promoting his new movie, Little Brother, in which he co-stars with former wrestler and actor John Cena. The movie premieres on Netflix in 10 days.
His ringside appearance first appeared ordinary, until Fatu singled him out at the end of The Bloodline segment. The unexpected attack quickly became one of the night’s most talked-about incidents, with footage spreading rapidly across social media platforms.
The unexpected attack generated a lot of comments, with some fans joking that Eric Andre picked the wrong Samoan to greet, while others saw how dangerous and unpredictable Fatu could be.
This was not the first time that a celebrity or a guest who appeared on the show was involved in physical confrontations for comedic or storyline purposes.
