Among all this is an electrical lineman, Roy Neary (played by Richard Dreyfuss), who becomes fascinated with UFOs once he sees one from close range.

This Steven Spielberg film shows how scientists figure out a way to interact with aliens to resolve problems without violence, which was and still is rare to see in films. We also see the common man’s reaction to extraterrestrial life through Roy. The film is streaming on Peacock.

Disclosure Day (2026)

Presently rated 6.8 on IMDb, Disclosure Day is Steven Spielberg’s latest release, which was released in theaters on June 12, 2026. It follows a whistleblower, Daniel Kellner (played by Josh O’Connor), who steals confidential government files about extraterrestrial beings and incidents and wants to bring about Disclosure Day. As he tries his best to reveal the information to the world, he becomes the government’s target.

Amongst all these, a former journalist, who is a meteorologist now, Margaret Fairchild (played by Emily Blunt), has strange experiences that connect her to Daniel. They both then figure out how they are connected to each other and something bigger as they have to evade authorities. The film is running in theaters and is not available for streaming yet.

War of the Worlds (2005)

Ranked at 6.6 on IMDb, War of the Worlds was released in theaters on June 29, 2005. The film follows Ray Ferrier (played by Tom Cruise), a crane operator, who is estranged from his wife, Mary Ann (played by Miranda Otto), who drops off their two children with him before going to Boston to visit her parents.

Some time after she leaves, aliens attack the earth with full force, and Roy has to figure out a way to keep his children safe and reach his wife among all destruction and chaos. The film is streaming on Paramount+ and Starz.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008)

Ranked at 6.2, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released in theaters on May 22, 2008. The film follows Indiana Jones in 1957 as he investigates an alien skull that has been on earth from the time of the Roswell incident. He soon realizes that he has to return the skull to Akator, all while evading KGB agents.
