Tornado emergency issued in Illinois
One of the most serious weather alerts of the day occurred in central Illinois, where the National Weather Service briefly issued a tornado emergency near Peoria.
A tornado emergency is among the rarest and most urgent warnings issued by meteorologists. It is reserved for situations involving a confirmed large and potentially destructive tornado that poses a significant threat to life and property.
