Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs denies fresh assault claims in new suit

A former child actor says he was assaulted at a Hollywood networking event nearly 20 years ago

Sean Combs is facing another civil lawsuit, this one filed anonymously by a man who claims he was sexually assaulted as a minor at a networking event in the Hollywood Hills in 2007. The complaint, filed this week in California, adds to a long and still expanding list of legal actions against the incarcerated music executive, whose troubles in both civil and criminal courts show no signs of slowing.

Combs is currently serving a sentence of more than four years following a federal conviction in New York on two counts related to transportation for the purposes of prostitution. He is appealing that conviction. Separately, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has confirmed it is actively reviewing a sexual assault case connected to him, though no charges have been filed in that jurisdiction.

What the new lawsuit alleges

The plaintiff, who filed under a pseudonym, describes himself as having begun working as a child actor around 2004. He alleges that in May 2007, when he was under 18 years old, he attended an industry networking event where he encountered Combs. According to the complaint, Combs approached him under the pretense of discussing a potential professional opportunity and guided him away from the main gathering into a more private area of the venue.

Once alone, the accuser alleges that Combs offered him alcohol and then initiated unwanted physical contact. The complaint describes a series of escalating acts that the plaintiff says he did not consent to and which he alleges constituted sexual assault. The accuser states he expressed discomfort during the encounter, but that Combs continued nonetheless before the interaction ended and Combs made a remark referencing the acting opportunity he had mentioned earlier.

A talent agency also named in the suit

The lawsuit does not target Combs alone. The accuser has also named his former talent agency as a defendant, arguing that the firm failed in its duty to protect him as a minor. He contends that a representative or chaperone should have accompanied him to the event, particularly given his age, and that the agency’s negligence in that regard contributed to the circumstances that led to the alleged assault.

That dimension of the case raises broader questions about industry practices and the responsibilities that agencies and management companies hold toward young clients navigating adult professional environments.

Combs denies the allegations

A representative for Combs responded to the new lawsuit with a firm denial, describing the allegations as entirely without merit and noting that the complaint rests solely on the accuser’s account of events that allegedly took place nearly two decades ago. The statement indicated that the legal team would review the filing and respond through the appropriate legal channels.

Combs and his attorneys have consistently denied all accusations of sexual misconduct across the numerous civil suits he is currently facing. His legal team has repeatedly characterized the accumulation of claims against him as a media driven phenomenon rather than a reflection of his conduct.

A pattern that prosecutors are watching

The new lawsuit arrives as the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office continues its review of a separate sexual assault investigation involving Combs. That review stems from cases presented by both the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, each involving a different alleged victim. No charging decision has been announced.

Among the individuals connected to civil proceedings against Combs is a music publicist who has accused him of serious sexual misconduct on two separate occasions in 2020 and 2021. That accuser has described the district attorney’s review of his case as a significant moment and has publicly stated his commitment to seeing the legal process through to its conclusion.

Combs continues to deny every allegation made against him across all active and pending matters.
