A24 beats Netflix, Searchlight and more for Cannes breakout Club Kid

A24 takes away yet another intriguing movie, Club Kid, after a rigorous bidding war. From Netflix to Searchlight, many had joined the race to get Jordan Firstman’s movie; however, A24 has come out victorious. It cannot be denied that A24 is known for bringing in movies that always have a unique concept.

Hence, the arrival of this movie through A24 adds to the anticipation. This movie is also Jordan Firstman’s directorial debut, and this movie has gained an immense positive response among all the other movies in this year’s Cannes Film Festival.


A24 beats Netflix, Searchlight, and more for Club Kid

The massive deal of Club Kid involved an amount of $17 million. Three sources have already confirmed this amount. Though initially the number was kept hidden. The bidding took a massive turn due to the many competitors, especially Netflix, Mubi, Searchlight, A24, and Focus Features. Warner Bros. also participated in the bidding but quickly withdrew as the amount rose.

From Warner Bros., the new label Clockwork had participated in the bidding. Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid dives into the complex story of a party promoter. The party promoter whose character is brought to life by Jordan Firtman has been in the business for a long time and has quite outgrown it. However, things take a turn when his 10-year-old son, about whom he had no idea, arrives at his doorstep.

The arrival of his son eventually leads the party promoter to make significant decisions to pave the future of his life, as he has to make a choice. He can either be a father to his son or maintain the life he has. The movie is produced by Topic Studios. The worldwide rights have now been taken away by A24.

Besides this movie, where Jordan Firstman is both the actor and the director, some of his other projects that can also be added to your watchlist are English Teacher, I Love LA, Dave, Hacks, Ms. Marvel, Cinema Toast, etc.

From giving his voice to characters to bringing life to the characters through his acting prowess, Firstman’s presence in each and every project that he took on through the years is impactful.

Initially, the bidding for Club Kid started with seven figures, which rose very quickly to $17 million. The very talented Alex Coco, known for projects such as Anora, Allen Sunshine, Pet Shop Days, The Sweet East, Beat the Shift, etc., is the producer of Club Kid. The movie is also co-financed by Galen Core, Michael Bloom, and Ryan Heller from Topic.

Besides Firstman, the very talented Cara Delevingne also takes on a crucial role along with Reggie Absolom, Diego Calva, etc. Some of Cara Delevigne’s other notable projects that can also be added to your watchlist are American Horror Story, Tell It Like a Woman, Only Murders in the Building, Tulip Fever, Suicide Squad, etc. Besides Ian Stratford, Firstman is also the executive producer for the film. The launch of the movie was done by Charades International.
