Ghosts Season 5 Episode 20 was released recently on May 14, 2026, and it took us on yet another journey at the Woodstone Mansion. The episode featured the return of a character from Season 2, which stirred up white some chaos.
We also saw Sasappis visiting someone’s dream, and all the ghosts coming together to help out Samantha yet again. Here’s a recap of Ghosts Season 5 Episode 20.
Ghosts Season 5 Episode 20 recap
Ghosts Season 5 episode 20 brings back Paula, the producer who came first to Woodstone in Season 2, to scout the place to film an episode of a documentary series, Dumb Deaths. This time, Paula comes to Woodstone Mansion to scout the place once again, this time, to film the new season of a reality show, It’s Getting Hot in Here: All Star Edition.
After Paula arrives at Woodstone, Alberta encourages Samantha to tell Paula about the holiday rom-com script she has been writing, called Polar Opposites. Sasappis reminds Samantha that Joan, who was a producer too, had said she liked. However, Samantha is hesitant as the script isn’t ready, and that Paula might not like it, but the ghosts encourage her to take a risk.
Samantha does end up showing Paula the script, but as Samantha gives Paula the script and she agrees to read it, Joan reveals how she had said the script was good only to be nice, but in reality, the script isn’t ready at all, and if Paula reads it, there’s no chance of the script going anywhere. Samantha manages to take back the script for the night, and Joan then decides to help Samantha by pulling an all-nighter to rewrite it.
Ghosts Season 5 episode 20 then takes us to Hetty, who suggests Flower to host an inaugural ball to celebrate her getting elected as Ghosts Representative. Hearing about the ball, Issac immediately has ideas to give long speeches, but Hetty stops his ideas then and there by convincing him he has to be the surviving ghost leader in case some ghosts, including Flower, get sucked off during the event, and the remaining are left without a leader.
Thor, who now calls himself the ‘First Gentleman’, decides to join Hetty in organising the ball, and Hetty reluctantly agrees. But when they actually begin planning the ball, Hetty and Thor have completely different ideas, and finally have to ask Flower to choose whose ideas are better. When Pete presents both ideas without naming who came up with which one, Flower chooses Hetty’s idea.
An angry and frustrated Thor storms out of the room, saying he no longer wants to plan the party. When Flower asks Thor why he’s so passionate about the ball, he reveals that he wanted to be useful, as he is scared Flower won’t need him anymore because she is the Ghost Representative. But Flower assures him that her slightly busier schedule will only make her value her free time that she wants to spend with Thor even more.
Joan and Samantha, on the other hand, discuss the script and make edits, but when Samantha ends the story with the female protagonist, Jenny single, Joan suggests she stick to the room com rule and give her a happy ending with a partner. Samatha disagrees and decides to stick to the ending she chose. Joan then convinces Sasappis to go into Paula’s dream to find out if Paula prefers happy endings or unconventional ones.
Sasappis goes into Paula’s dream, but gets no specific answer, as Paula begins to ask for context, which leads the conversation somewhere else. While Sasappis couldn’t find out what kind of ending Paula prefers, his conversation with her in her dream made her think she came up with the story of Polar Opposites, which Samantha immediately understood was Sasappis and Joan’s doing. Isaac suggests showing Paula the actual script, but Samantha thinks Paula won’t believe it’s her original work.
Joan then suggests they gaslight Paula into thinking that Samantha gave her the script the night before, and she forgot because she took an Ambien. The ghosts, Jay, and Samantha successfully gaslight Paula as Joan planned, and when she sees the Polar Opposites script in the trash (that Samantha had planted seconds before), she believes Samantha. Paula reads the script this time and loves it, and she does have a note that the couple should end up together at the end.
Ghosts Season 5 episode 20 thus ends with the news of Paula booking Woodstone as the filming location for It’s Getting Hot in Here: All Star, and that she gave Samantha’s script to the studio, who are looking forward to reading it. Isaac, on the other hand, is still in the woods, believing the party is still going on, and he needs to stay out.
All released episodes of Ghosts Season 5 are streaming on Paramount+. The last two episodes of Ghosts Season 5, episodes 21 and 22, will be released on May 21, 2026.
