The world of Yellowstone has officially grown bigger with the release of Dutton Ranch, the new Paramount+ spin-off series focused on Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. The first two episodes, “The Untold Want” and “Earn Another Day,” premiered together on May 15, 2026, and quickly introduced both returning fan favorites and several important new characters.
Episode 1, titled “The Untold Want,” answers the biggest question fans had before the show began: who appears in the new series and how are they connected to Beth and Rip’s next chapter?
The premiere brings back Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little from Yellowstone while also introducing major new cast members, including Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Jai Courtney, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Juan Pablo Raba.
The series begins after a wildfire destroys Beth and Rip’s Montana ranch. The couple then moves to Rio Paloma, Texas, hoping for a fresh start. But as Episode 1 quickly shows, trouble follows them almost immediately.
Returning Yellowstone characters in Dutton Ranch
Fans of Yellowstone will see some familiar characters right away in Episode 1. The spin‑off continues their stories right after the end of the original show.
Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton
Kelly Reilly is back as Beth Dutton in Dutton Ranch. Beth is trying to start over after losing her home in Montana. She is smart, strong, and fearless. But moving to Texas brings new problems she cannot control.
Dutton Ranch Episode 1 shows Beth trying to leave the past behind. She works hard to protect her family and their new ranch.
Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler
Rip is very loyal to Beth. He works hard to make their new ranch successful. Dutton Ranch Episode 1 shows Rip learning ranch life in Texas. He also faces dangerous people in the area.
Rip’s calm but tough personality remains an important part of the show. He quickly becomes involved in the growing fight with a nearby ranch family.
Finn Little as Carter
Finn Little is back as Carter, the teenager raised by Beth and Rip. In Episode 1, Carter’s story is more about feelings than action. He struggles to fit into his new life in Texas and misses the home he lost in Montana.
The show also hints that Carter may start making friends outside the Dutton family.
New characters in Episode 1
Annette Bening as Beulah Jackson
Annette Bening plays Beulah Jackson, the owner of the Big 10‑Petal Ranch near the Duttons. She is shown as confident, rich and respected in Texas. But Episode 1 makes it clear she sees Beth and Rip as a threat.
The fight between the Beulah family and the Duttons becomes the main conflict of the premiere.
Jai Courtney as Rob‑Will
Jai Courtney plays Rob‑Will, Beulah’s son. He is angry, reckless and quick to fight. His violent actions in Episode 1 push the story into dangerous territory. Rob‑Will immediately clashes with Rip and looks like one of the season’s biggest troublemakers.
Ed Harris as Everett McKinney
Ed Harris plays Everett McKinney, a local veterinarian in Texas. He meets Beth and Rip soon after they arrive in Rio Paloma. Unlike some of the other new characters, Everett seems calm and thoughtful. Episode 1 suggests he could become an important ally for the Duttons as they settle into the community.
Natalie Alyn Lind as Oreana
Natalie Alyn Lind plays Oreana, a local teenager who connects with Carter. Their early scenes together give the show some lighter and more emotional moments. Oreana helps Carter feel less alone as he adjusts to his new surroundings.
Other characters appearing in Dutton Ranch Episode 1
Several other actors also appear during the premiere. Juan Pablo Raba appears in a supporting role connected to the Texas ranching community. Josh Stewart appears as Sheriff Wade. Jessica Belkin, Berto Colon, Sterlin English and James Eddie also appear in smaller roles.
Marc Menchaca is part of the cast, too, but details about his character have not been shared yet. The large cast helps make Texas feel like a completely new world for the Yellowstone universe.
How Dutton Ranch Episode 1 sets up the future of the series
“The Untold Want” spends much of its runtime introducing the new setting and the growing feud between the Duttons and the 10-Petal Ranch.
The episode starts with a sad event: a wildfire burns down Beth and Rip’s ranch in Montana. After a six‑month jump, the couple is shown living in Texas, trying to build a new life. But problems begin as soon as they arrive.
The fight with Beulah Jackson and her son, Rob‑Will, becomes the main story. Land fights, violence and power struggles return, just like in Yellowstone.
At the same time, the show looks at Beth, Rip, and Carter as they try to become a real family. This emotional story makes Dutton Ranch feel a little different from the original Yellowstone, but it still has the same tense drama fans enjoy.
With the first two episodes now streaming on Paramount+, Dutton Ranch has begun the next chapter in the growing Yellowstone universe.
