Here’s your recap for the Days of our Lives episode that aired on Thursday, May 14, 2026, which had Johnny and Shawn leaving the hospital, Gabi and Ari having a heart-to-heart talk, and Sarah stepping in to save Holly from an understandably angry Amy.
What happened on Days of our Lives
At the police station, Sophia’s parents, Amy and Jason, met with Jada to discuss Sophia’s disappearance. Jada said that she was sorry for what they’re going through. Jada said they hadn’t found Sophia. Jason thought that was a good sign. Maybe she wasn’t in the Salem River.
Jada gently explained that the “golden hour” had passed and that the Salem PD was now looking at a “search and recovery,” indicating that Sophia was likely dead.
A frustrated Amy wondered if the police were going to stop looking. She hoped that her daughter was still alive. Jada said the police were praying, too. Amy said that the real monster in all this is Holly Jonas. She screamed that the police need to do more, and she refused to believe that her Sophia was gone.
Jason thanked Jada for all she’d done. After Jada left, Amy blasted Jason for complimenting their efforts and that he had accepted their daughter was gone. Jason said that he was in terrible pain. He recalled the first time she said “Da-da” and added that his heart was broken into a thousand pieces.
Amy didn’t give a damn what Jada said. “If there is no body, there is still a chance that Sophia is still alive,” she insisted.
A patient husband
Chanel urged Johnny to go home with her from the hospital so that he could rest. He insisted on staying with her as Sarah was examining her. Johnny said that he and Chanel are in this together. Johnny said he would sit and wait in the waiting room while Chanel had her procedure. He would finish reading his copy of Orson Welles’ biography. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily,” Johnny assured his wife, promising to be by her side.
Chanel told Johnny that he could be stubborn and sweet. Chanel felt that she had to be strong for her mother in light of Lexie’s return. Later, in the exam room, Sarah explained
In the exam room, Sarah explained to Chanel the procedure and how it would unfold. Dr. Horton encouraged Chanel to lean on the people in her life. Chanel asked when the biopsy results would be ready. Sarah lamented that it would take a few days. She suggested that Chanel try to do fun things to distract her while she waits. Chanel thanked Sarah for her supportive words.
Johnny and Shawn caught up with each other in the waiting area. Jada showed up to get Shawn. After recounting her talk with Sophia’s parents, she and Shawn left.
A tale as old as time
Gabi arrived at home with soup for Javi. Ari let her mom know that Javi was sleeping. Gabi said she didn’t like the way Ari was talking to her. Ari asked if her mom could treat her with respect. She accused her mom of playing “helicopter mom” and of micromanaging her. Ari said Gabi had no idea how overprotective Will and Sonny had been. Gabi assured Ari that Will and Sonny were just looking out for her, and they didn’t want her to make bad choices.
Ari quipped that she assumed Gabi wouldn’t pay attention to her, as her mom has always been about her. Ari asked Gabi to just let her go. Ari said that she moved in with her two fathers because Gabi was too busy. Gabi reminded Ari that she’d gone to prison for a crime that she didn’t even commit!
Ari said she knew her mom didn’t leave on purpose, but added that she wasn’t in her life for a long time. She can’t make up for lost time by trying to run her life. Gabi asked Ari what was wrong with her that she wanted to see Liam. Ari said she was her mother’s daughter.
Ari asked Gabi what she was going to do, ground her? Gabi asked if Ari didn’t like her mother’s involvement with Philip. Ari said that wasn’t the case. She was happy for her. Ari’s question was why couldn’t Gabi be happy for her over Liam? Ari said he was hot. Gabi suggested she look in the mirror and ask if she could build a life with Liam. Ari said she didn’t want to ask herself cringy questions in the mirror.
Gabi suggested to her daughter that she ask herself what kind of relationship she wanted. Would someone edgg like Liam be able to provide the kind of relationship she wants? Ari said the heart wants what it wants. “You really are your mother’s daughter,” Gabi says. She recalled being given a similar lecture, and, like Ari, she didn’t want to listen. She had to learn from her mistakes. Ari said then let me learn from mine.
Gabi said that Ari could go and learn from her mistakes. Ari asked if Gabi was still obsessing over Stefan. Gabi said she wasn’t still obsessing. But she said that her divorce documents from Stefan were forged as he had never signed them.
Therefore, Gabi said technically, she was Stefan’s widow. She was entitled to inherit some of Stefano’s fortune. Naturally, Ari wanted to know when her mom would get the money. Gabi said that they still had to prove things legally.
Gabi pointed out that the important thing was that Stefan loved her till the end, just as she loved him. She just wished that she could have told him just one last time. Gabi lamented that her relationship with Stefan ended the way it did. She talked about how precious life was. Ari apologized for being so hard on her mom. She shared that what happened to Sophia had truly affected her adversely.
Ari recalled when she and Sophia were little girls. Gabi said that she still saw her daughter as that little girl. She added that she didn’t know what she’d do if anything ever happened to her.
Strange bedfellows
Sean settled in at Jada’s. She offered to order a pizza. He said he wasn’t hungry, but that the traveling took a lot out of him. Shawn asked for a painkiller. Jada told Shawn that his stuff — clothes, books — were in her guest room. He was impressed that she thought of that. Shawn didn’t want to take advantage of her generosity. Jada said she wouldn’t mind if Shawn took advantage of her. When Shawn wanted to clarify what that entailed, Jada said that she was kidding.
Meanwhile, Johnny and Chanel settled in at home. Lani still had Trey, so they were alone. Johnny asked how Paulina was because of the whole Lexie situation. Chanel said her mom was strong, and if anyone could handle it, it’d be her.
Good golly, Miss Holly
Tate told an agitated Holly to forget about school and exams and everything except this…then, he kissed her. Tate told Holly she needed to relax. After all, she had three years to make up for one bad test. Tate suggested they have a picnic by the lake. She refused because of Sophia’s situation. Tate apologized for not thinking of that.
They tried doing some yoga to relax, but that didn’t work. Just as Tate kissed Holly, Amy barged in and let them know that the police were looking for Sophia’s body. Tate said he was sorry. Holly added her sympathies. Amy believed Tate, but she accused Holly of being “quite the little actress.”
Holly said that she wasn’t going to be blamed for the nightmare that Sophia brought upon herself. She admitted she wasn’t sorry that Sophia was gone because it meant that she couldn’t hurt her or anyone else ever again.
Amy pointed out that Tate was once accused of having drugs that belonged to Holly. Amy called Holly a trashy. little liar. She vowed that if Sophia were dead, Holly would go to Statesville. Just then, Sarah entered and told Amy to stop and said that she needed to leave.
