Matt Reeves, who is returning to direct The Batman: Part II, has recently confirmed the cast of the film through posts on his X account. So far, Reeves has confirmed that most of the cast of the 2022 film are returning to reprise their roles. Robert Pattinson, who took over as Batman from Ben Affleck in The Batman (2022), is reprising his role in the upcoming film. Similarly, Jeffrey Wright is reprising his role as James Gordon, the GCPD Commissioner and an ally to Batman.
Andy Serkis will be returning as Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s butler and mentor. Colin Farrell will be returning as Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin. The upcoming film takes place after the events of the HBO spin-off series The Penguin, which is reportedly going to bridge the gap between the two films. Jayme Lawson is returning as Mayor Bella Reál of Gotham City. Gil Perez-Abraham will return as Officer Martinez, a GCPD officer from the first film.

While Matt Reeves has confirmed the former Marvel star, Scarlet Johansson, to be starring in the upcoming film, the exact specifics of Johansson’s character are yet to be revealed. However, fans have speculated she could play Harvey Dent’s wife, Gilda Dent, or a new antagonist altogether. Reeves teased her addition to the cast with a post saying,
“Next exit, Gotham… Welcome.”
Who is Sebastian Stan playing in The Batman: Part II?
Sebastian Stan is going to play Harvey Dent. Matt Reeves has confirmed on X that the Marvel star has now also joined DC. He has been confirmed to play Gotham’s District Attorney, Harvey Dent, who he will eventually transition into the villain Two-Face.
Who is Charles Dance playing in The Batman: Part II?
Charles Dance has been confirmed to be a part of the cast of the upcoming film by Matt Reeves. It is, however, yet to be known which character he is playing. Speculations suggest he might play Charles Dent, Harvey Dent’s abusive and alcoholic father.
Matt Reeves is directing the film and is also the co-writer along with Mattson Tomlin. Very little is known about the entire crew of the upcoming film. So far, all we know is that Luke Hull is the production designer and Erik Messerschmidt is the cinematographer. The film is expected to be shot in Liverpool, Glasgow, and Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, and filming is expected to begin in June 2026.
The Batman: Part II, as of now, has an October 1, 2027, release date.
