Demi Moore is a Hollywood icon who was formerly the highest paid actress in the world at the height of her powers. While her impressive range and bold choices endeared her to audiences worldwide, Moore has also always been highly discussed due to her high profile romances. This includes marriages to actors Bruce Willis, then Ashton Kutcher.
In the latest news about The Substance star, Demi Moore spoke candidly about AI implementation in Hollywood, when she was on hand for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival’s opening day press conference on May 12. When asked by a Variety correspondent about her views on the role of artificial intelligence in art, the actress shared,
“Wow, that’s a big question. I think the reality is that to resist — I always feel that against-ness breeds against-ness. AI is here, and so to fight it is to, in a sense, to fight something that is a battle that we will lose. So to find ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path to take. To your question of are we doing enough to protect ourselves? I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t have the answer to that, and so my inclination would be to say probably not.”
She added,
“There’s beautiful aspects of being able to utilize it, but the truth is, there really isn’t anything to fear, because what it can never replace is what true art comes from, which is not the physical. It comes from the soul. It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here, to each and every one of us that creates every day, and that they can never recreate through something that’s technical.”
Demi Moore will be serving as a jury member for this year’s festival, which will culminate on May 23.

Interestingly, Demi Moore also used her platform at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival’s opening day press conference to address her views on the role of politics in cinema. When asked if she thought political statements made at the festival could take away from the enjoyment of the films being showcased, Moore answered as follows,
“I think part of art is about expression, so if we start censoring ourselves, then we shut down the very core of our creativity, which is, I think, where we can discover truth and answers.”
Demi Moore will appear in the crime comedy I Love Boosters, which is set to release in theaters on May 22.
