ALDI is launching a limited-edition ‘carrot’ gold engagement ring – after Kevin the Carrot finally popped the question to Katie.
Shoppers were left gobsmacked on Monday when the supermarket’s much-anticipated Christmas advert made its debut – showing the festive veg getting down on one knee.

And to mark the romantic moment, Aldi has created limited edition commemorative ‘carrot’ gold engagement rings.
This comes as a poll of 2,000 adults revealed 33% believe Christmas proposals are ‘magical’, while almost three in 10 (29%) said that if their partner popped the question over the festive season, it would be ‘the best present ever’.
A quiet and casual proposal topped the list as the most romantic (24%), followed closely by getting down on one knee abroad (23%).
For 6%, a pet delivering the ring would be the ultimate romantic moment.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “This is the next step in Kevin and Katie’s journey, so we wanted to create something truly unique to commemorate the carrot couples’ love story – and what better way than with a truly unique ‘carrot’ ring.
“It’s heartwarming to see that when it comes to real romance people are looking beyond the price tag and to the heart.
“And if Kevin’s taught us anything over the past decade, it’s that love comes in all shapes and sizes – and sometimes with a leafy top!”
When asked to name the most memorable on-screen proposals and romantic scenes, The Notebook’s kiss in the rain took the top spot (12%).
Followed by Chandler’s candlelit proposal to Monica in Friends (9%), Julia Roberts’ ‘I’m just a girl’ speech in Notting Hill (9%), and Love Actually’s cue card scene (9%), according to research by OnePoll.
The research also found nearly half of Brits would happily say ‘yes’ to a £10 engagement ring, with 43% loving novelty designs and almost one in five happy to propose – or be proposed to – with one.
In a world where celebrity proposals are making headlines with dazzling 10 carat rocks – like Taylor Swift’s recent sparkler – Aldi is proving there’s room for more carrot and less carat.
To mark 10 years of Kevin and his engagement to Katie, Aldi has launched the exclusive ‘Carrot’ gold engagement rings, available free, via a shopper competition from November 5 to 19, find out more information here.
Crafted in collaboration with British jeweller Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery, each ring features a carrot-shaped orange cubic zirconia, flanked by two marquise peridot accents – a nod to Kevin’s leafy top.
With this years’ adverts telling a love story, shoppers should keep their eyes peeled for the next chapter to see if wedding bells are ringing… or if there’s a twist in the tale.
When’s the best time to shop at Aldi?
WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.
For reduced items – when shops open
Red sticker items are rare at Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates.”
That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens.
Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store’s times by using the supermarket’s online shop finder tool.
For Specialbuys – Thursdays and Sundays
Specialbuys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.
New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.
For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store’s opening time.
Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit as early as possible
