Among the leaders in attendance was Camye Mackey, executive vice president and chief people and diversity officer for the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena. Mackey spoke about her role in shaping a workplace culture that empowers more than 1,500 team members while delivering world-class experiences for fans and visitors.
“In my role, we create strategic plans to develop, grow, and involve our people,” Mackey explained. “It’s about making sure every team member feels they belong and can show up as their best self. When our people thrive, our fans and community feel it too.”

Mackey highlighted the Hawks’ long-standing partnership with Georgia Power, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in creating opportunities for veterans transitioning into civilian careers. The event, she said, was an example of how Atlanta’s business community can unite to make a difference.
“Today is a great example of how our team partners with Georgia Power and veterans in our community to build opportunities around jobs and upskilling,” Mackey said. “It’s all about making this a better place for everyone in our community.”
Hawks’ Mackey has the ‘best job’
For Mackey, who oversees diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for one of the NBA’s most dynamic organizations, the work is deeply personal. She describes her position as both a professional challenge and a personal privilege.
“There’s so much gratification that comes from this job,” she shared. “I get to welcome people into an organization, watch them grow, and see them make an impact. I think I have the best job in the world because I get to help people thrive while helping the business achieve its goals.”
While the focus of the day was on connecting veterans with career opportunities, Mackey also offered a glimpse into the excitement surrounding the upcoming Atlanta Hawks NBA season and the diverse entertainment lineup planned at State Farm Arena.
Mackey said the Hawks have a lot in store this season
“When you come to our arena, it reflects Atlanta — vibrant, diverse, and full of energy,” she said. “You’re going to find incredible food, amazing entertainment, and of course, an NBA team ready to compete. It’s truly the place to be.”
The Hawks’ commitment to inclusion and community engagement continues to set a standard for professional sports organizations nationwide. Through events like this career fair, the franchise reinforces its role not just as a basketball team, but as a cornerstone of Atlanta’s civic and cultural life.
