The Punisher: One Last Kill is just a few hours away from its Disney+ release time. For those who don’t know, the Disney+ special presentation is releasing a week after the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale. As of now, we don’t know much about the presentation, but we know that its events are set a bit before Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and during it.
The special presentation will show what happened with Frank Castle after he escaped Fisk’s captivity in the Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 finale post credit scene. Moreover, The Punisher: One Last Kill also marks Jon Bernthal’s debut as a writer.
The Punisher: One Last Kill release date:
The Disney+ special presentation is releasing tonight but the release date and time will be different across the world. Therefore, here’s when the presentation drops on Disney+:

“In the special, Frank searches for meaning beyond revenge, when an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.”
When is the special presentation set in the overall MCU?
Showrunner Dario Scardapane revealed how The Punisher: One Last Kill figures out in the overall MCU timeline. During his interview with Variety, Scardapane addressed why if Jon Bernthal didn’t return in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 because of scheduling issues making a special presentation necessary. To this Scardapane responded:
“That came out of a lot of discussions with Jon over the years. I know that Jon had been talking to the people at Marvel and had a very specific idea in mind about what happened to Frank after the end of the “Punisher” series. He came in so graciously, gratefully and wonderfully in Season 2 for a pretty eye-popping pair of scenes.”
Then, he further added:
“That got him, Reinaldo and the producers talking about a Punisher special. So, yeah, not having Jon in Season 2 more reflects about the story he wanted to tell with the Punisher special.”
When asked if the presentation was setting up Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the One Last Kill‘s placement in the overall MCU, Dario Scardapane responded:
“I don’t know a ton about what goes on in “Brand New Day,” and I know very well where we left him at the end of “Punisher” Season 2. I think this tells the story of what happened next after “Punisher” and before and during the events of [“Born Again”] Season 2.”
This week, we also learned that the title “The Punisher: One Last Kill” could be a misdirect. The Direct asked asked One Last Kill director Reinaldo Marcus Green this:
“What I think you succeeded in [was] it really did feel like a one shot comic. So, it does really have that feel and it’s not a throwaway either. It’s like a really important one shot, like a quick character moment. So, I think you pulled it off. Many people saw when it was announced the title of ‘One Last Kill,’ and were immediately like, ‘That doesn’t make sense. Is Punisher just gonna stop? What does this title mean?’… What did you think of that reaction, and can you just talk a little bit about why you chose that as the title?”
To this, Green answered:
“Well, obviously, Marvel has a lot of hand in the titles and that regard. I think for fans, though, like you said, once they see it, they’ll understand it, and I think that’s what’s most important. So I think, yeah, it’s a misdirect in the best way. I think it’s one of those situations where you hear it, you’re like, ‘Wait, is this the end of The Punisher?’ And when you realize that maybe it’s not, I think that makes it even more cool.”
