Rachel Agatha Keen, known more commonly by her on-stage moniker Raye, is a British singer, songwriter and producer. The multi-talented performer boasts an impressive list of accolades to this point in her career including seven Brit Awards (including the first ever to a female for songwriter of the year), and three grammy nominations.
In the latest news about the 28-year-old “Where is My Husband!” songstress, Raye appears to be setting her sights on the silver screen after landing a role in the upcoming crime feature Lineage. Directed by Yann Demange, the film will mark the musician’s first scripted dramatic role.
Raye previously appeared in an episode of Netflix’s 2025 hit Black Rabbit, although her role was more of a cameo appearance. At the time, she shared the following with Billboard about her inaugural on-set experience.
“Reading my very first ever ‘on screen’ lines whilst staring into Jason Bateman’s eyes is a life experience I will never forget.”
The singer also made it clear that she is content to forge her own path in the industry as further evidenced by a 2023 Rolling Stone interview, where she opened up about the desire to operate in the absence of industry pressures.
“I don’t have to answer to anyone or meet anyone’s requirements or do any somersaults for anyone anymore. I’m in control of my career and I’m really in the thick of that. It’s quite liberating.”
While filming for Lineage has been announced to begin in early August, there is currently no firm release date for the film.
Raye to appear in Lineage, and more
Raye’s first real foray into acting is a milestone moment for the truly eclectic performer. In an interview with Variety, the film’s director Yann Demange opened up about his expectations for the feature.
“‘Lineage’ is a homecoming for me in many ways. It’s also my love letter to the London I grew up in and love. It’s important to me that the film both honors and delivers on the crime genre in an exciting and fresh way, whilst simultaneously exploring the complications of family and the possibility of transcending one’s beginnings.”
As of this report, it is unclear exactly what role Raye will portray in the film, although it has been announced that she will be joining Isabelle Huppert, Dali Benssalah, and Adam Bessa in the ensemble cast.
