SNL is back with yet another intriguing sketch, which brings forth the very talented Matt Damon taking the stage with Colin Jost. The dynamic that the two share throughout this sketch brings forth a layer of humor, leaving a lasting impact on the viewers.
Matt Damon takes on quite an interesting role in this episode of SNL and delivers a breathtaking performance alongside the other cast members.
Matt Damon’s character on SNL
In the newest episode of SNL, which aired on May 9, Matt Damon brings life to the role of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. During the sketch, not only does he dress the part, but he also perfectly embodies the role, depicting a humorous and charged performance.
The sketch starts with Colin Jost taking on the role of Pete Hegseth, visiting a bar in Washington, D.C. Jost’s Hegseth visits this bar as he thinks that “Trump’s people” cannot drink as much as he is able to do. The moment he says these words, Matt Damon’s Brett Kavanaugh enters the bar and disagrees with Jost’s Hegseth. Damon’s Kavanaugh then orders the drinks, which makes Jost’s Hegseth extremely happy.
When Damon’s Kavanaugh tells Jost’s Hegseth that he knew that he would be able to find Jost’s Hegseth in the bar, it surprises Jost’s Hegseth, as he thinks that he might have mistakenly added him on a “signal chat”. However, Kavanaugh notes that he just saw that the women were “covering their drinks” and assumed that Hegseth would be there.
Both of them then cheer as they think both of them “share” this quality. Jost’s Hegseth then points out that he cannot believe that he just “started a war,” while Damon’s Kavanaugh notes that it is hard to believe that he just “ended abortion”. The sharp social commentary and humor that can be seen in this sketch on SNL leave a lasting impact.
This sketch of SNL continues with Jost’s Hegseth and Damon’s Kavanaugh bonding because of their similarities. While speaking about the “war”, Jost’s Hegseth notes that the “war” is like him at a “DWI checkpoint” which “completely blew over”, while Damon’s Kavanaugh notes that he thought that they were only “bombing stuff”.
The unique flavor of humor, which can be seen in this sketch of SNL, is rare to find and resonates deeply with the viewers because of its thought-provoking nature. Damon also brought life to Kavanaugh’s character in 2018 on SNL. During this sketch the cast did a parody on the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
In the newest sketch, Damon’s Kavanaugh and Jost’s Hegseth are soon accompanied by Aziz Ansari, bringing life to Kash Patel’s character. Right after Ansari’s Kash’s arrival, he notes that he has made his own FBI bourbon with his “name on it”. The humor is further enhanced when Aziz Ansari’s Kash Patel notes that he has to bring his own alcohol to the bars because “sometimes they think” that he is a “kid with a fake ID”.
Damon also hosted an episode of SNL where he spoke about Mother’s Day. During his monologue, he spoke about the reason the show will not be bringing the mothers of the cast members, adding that the show usually flies the mothers in “first class” but, as “Spirit Airlines” has “shut down” it is not happening this time.
Matt Damon is all for the release of his upcoming movie, The Odyssey. He also speaks during his monologue. In The Odyssey, he will be taking on the role of Odysseus. The trailer of the movie is already out and has depicted the intense storyline and snippets of Damon’s breathtaking performance as Odysseus. The movie is set to drop on July 17.
