Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen are currently flabbergasted because of Marvel comics. The world of manga and comics is bridging its gap in a rather spectacular fashion, and this time, no one anticipated this crossover. Readers did not take a lot of time to notice a detail in one of the panels in Marvel’s later issue, which featured a visual of the legendary Shibuya Incident arc.
To add to the shocking element, this particular panel also included a silhouette of Sukuna standing over a burning Shibuya skyline. It was a clear and direct callback that seemed to be more than just an Easter egg. Adding such a reference by Marvel could mean that they are making the world of Jujutsu Kaisen a canon part of their Omniverse.
We have more information that this moment takes place during a reality-bending sequence, which was created by Murewa Ayodele, and the artwork was managed by Fenderica Mancin. So in the comic, when Storm was traveling through different realities in the multiverse of Marvel, for a short time, she enters a realm that is titled “Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. The Multiverse Cluster of Magic and Death.”
That was a first major hint towards this crossover because those who have read or watched Jujutsu Kaisen know about the events that take place in this very location, because it was the time when a lot of chaos unfolded, like Gojo Satoru was sealed, Sukuna went on a rampage, and overall, it was a day where cursed energy seemed to win the battle.
But it was not just the location that seemed to be a close reference because Marvel took a bold decision to push things further. In the comic, we see Shibuya that has been down in flames, and this visual mirrors the darkest moment of Gege Akutami’s series. In the middle of all the destruction that is taking place is Sukuna, standing over the city just like he had during his intense battle against Jogo. The resemblance in the end was too accurate to ignore and call a coincidence.
Fans immediately started debating whether Jujutsu Kaisen is Marvel canon
Naturally, ever since the image started getting viral all over social media, fans did not waste any time discussing this crossover moment. Many of them are now calling the universe of Jujutsu Kaisen canon with Marvel. They are now also joking that there could be a possibility that Gojo or Yuji could end up interacting with the Avengers, and that could be more than just fan art.
Meanwhile, part of the fandom is still debating whether getting this crossover would technically still not mean that this series is canon with the Marvel universe, because the answer is complicated. The current discussion stated that while the comic does take place in Jujutsu Kaisen’s world, and knowing Marvel’s multiverse concept, which allows infinite universes to coexist.
But getting a passing appearance does not mean that we are getting a proper crossover with storylines, because involving the Avengers and the concept of a cursed spirit seems extremely far-fetched. At least for now, this moment in the comic feels more like a tribute to the fact that JJK has become popular all around the globe.

While it is highly unlikely that in the near future we will end up getting a proper crossover, fans are passionate and believe that they could at least dream about it. In the modern entertainment section, we are currently witnessing unexpected collaborations taking place all the time.
That is why there is still minor hope that the idea of comic and manga collaboration no longer feels impossible. And honestly, seeing Sukuna standing inside Marvel’s multiverse might be one of the wildest anime surprises fans have witnessed in years.
