NCIS Season 23 is back with a new episode this Tuesday. Titled, ‘Deal With the Devil‘, the penultimate episode of the season shows the NCIS team waiting for the former CID Director Wayne Rogers to be proven guilty for Leon Vance’s murder. Initially, things were smooth until Rogers struck an immunity deal.
The synopsis of this episode of NCIS Season 23 reads (as per Rotten Tomatoes):
“As a secret immunity deal threatens to let a man walk free, Parker fights to keep the case alive; when Parker’s estranged sister suddenly appears — and buried family wounds resurface — the battle for justice becomes deeply personal.”
Parker was desperate to seek justice for Director Leon Vance’s murder, so he attended Roger’s trial. However, when Roger came up with the immunity deal, he understood that they would have to step up and take matters into their own hands. Here’s more about what happened in NCIS Season 23 Episode 19.
NCIS Season 23 Episode 19 recap: Parker seeks justice for Leon Vance’s murder
In this episode of NCIS Season 23, Parker does everything to help the prosecution prove that the former CID Director Wayne Rogers is guilty of several crimes, including Leon Vance’s death. Thus, when the defense struck a motion of continuance, Parker knew that Rogers was trying to secure an immunity deal. Parker was left angry when the judge said that, until they had more information, they were proceeding with a gag order. When the AUSA tried to calm Parker down, he punched him.
Kasie found out about the deal when Parker managed to slip a clue in the newspaper. The deal was incomplete, so the team still had time to figure out what information Rogers was trying to sell to get immunity. Parker’s estranged sister, Harriet, bailed Parker out. Turns out, it was just a day before their father’s anniversary, and Harriet was worried about Parker’s well-being. As they were leaving the prison, they saw Rogers.
Rogers attacked
When Parker noticed Rogers in the prison premises, he saw two security guards approach Rogers. However, he saw that they did not have the same badge, and he engaged in a shootout with them. Unfortunately, during the shootout, the actual security guard was killed, and the other was arrested. Turns out, the gunmen had information on the federal safehouse and WITSEC database, which meant only NCIS was safe for Rogers to take shelter. Parker instead took him to his house.
When Torres questioned the gunman, he told him to check his phone. Torres was shocked to find out that the AUSA and his wife were abducted. Meanwhile, Kasie found out that the weapons the gunman used came from the Navy. The evidence pointed towards Harriet’s involvement. In reality, the authorities planned to send weapons to a Venezuelan rebel group. However, they turned out to be a cartel. The Congress wanted Harriet to take the blame, but she was against the idea from the start.
Knight found out some important evidence and helped the team track the AUSA and his wife. They were alive and were rescued. The kidnappers, however, had escaped.
Rogers escapes from Parker’s house
Rogers escapes from Parker’s house. The team finds out that it was Rogers who was the leader of the cartel. He used some sly tricks to escape and was on a ship heading out of the country. However, he was caught. He might have lost one immunity deal, but was quick to strike another.
What happened to Rogers in NCIS Season 23?
Just as the NCIS team lost all hope, a news report said that Rogers had been shot on his way. McGee’s contact told him that he was shot from quite a long distance.
Elsewhere, Harriet asked Parker whether he was involved in Roger’s death. Parker said that he didn’t have any snipper skills. However, Parker was behaving in a suspicious manner while he was making dinner for Harriet. It seems like both Parker and McGee were involved in the shooting.
