Is Nicki Minaj attending the Met Gala 2026? Source says the rapper’s invites have “vanished”

Nicki Minaj might be sitting out of this year’s Met Gala, following claims she has been “shut out” of the high-profile affair.

The speculation arose from a recent Cosmopolitan report, adding that an insider revealed the Super Bass rapper’s potential nonattendance.

“Nicki’s invitations didn’t just slow down—they vanished. Hollywood stopped returning her calls. This isn’t subtle anymore. She’s been shut out.”

The claims were first cited in a Substack column by celebrity journalist Rob Shuter in early February. In his report, industry sources cited Nicki Minaj’s recent political involvement as the reason she is now barred from participating.

“There’s an invisible wall around her now. And no one wants to be seen opening the gate.”

Nicki Minaj’s MAGA shift: A quick recap

From being opposed to President Donald Trump’s policies, the Pound the Alarm hitmaker has shifted to becoming a full-fledged MAGA (Make America Great Again) supporter roughly in the last quarter of 2025.

That November, Nicki Minaj was invited by the United Nations as a speaker to honor Donald Trump for his work on defending Christians who are under threat in Nigeria.

“No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion, like I recently stated on social media. And we don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”

She added:

“I am joined here today by peace builders, by faith leaders, by those who saw violence, saw intolerance, saw the threats clearly before us and chose not to look the other way. I am inspired by their work to build interfaith ties, to see the humanity across the lines which might divide us and to vie and to fight for security and liberty for all those who pray.”

In December, Nicki Minaj then made a surprise appearance at Turning Point USA’s (TPUSA) AmericaFest, where she sat down for a live conversation with Erika Kirk, wife of the slain conservative speaker Charlie Kirk.

At one point in their exchange, Nicki Minaj spoke about appreciation and embracing one’s beauty.

“I don’t need someone with blonde hair and blue eyes to downplay their beauty, because I know my beauty. Do you understand? It doesn’t bother me that a woman feels and says that she’s beautiful.”

Erika Kirk visibly agreed to the rapper’s statements as she went on:

“Why shouldn’t she feel that? Why have we gotten to a point where certain colors or certain kinds of people have to be afraid of loving themselves and loving the way they look? Isn’t that wild?”

However, amid the discussion, the Barbie World star attacked California Governor Gavin Newsom, addressing him in a derogatory manner. She also rebuked transgender healthcare for minors, which factored in sealing her latest Met Gala fate. In Shuter’s column, an insider claimed:

“Hollywood doesn’t forgive this kind of alignment — especially when it’s loud and unapologetic.”

Another source chimed in:

“Once she went full MAGA on that stage, the door didn’t just close — it locked.”

Nicki Minaj, meanwhile, is aware of the backlash to her political shift. In fact, in her speech during the Trump Accounts Summit in Washington, D.C., she said that the criticism only motivates her further.

“We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him and the smear campaigns. It’s not going to work, OK? He [Trump] has a lot of force behind him, and God is protecting him. Amen.”

The rapper also declared that she is Trump’s No. 1 fan.
