On Days of our Lives, Thursday, April 30, 2026, Sophia tried to blow up Johnny, Chanel arrived at a dangerous moment, and Brady decided to go after Sophia.
What happened on Days of our Lives
Kayla was surprised when Stephanie got off the hospital elevator and fell into her arms. A distraught Stephanie told Kayla all about Joy returning to Salem with a baby who likely belonged to Alex. Kayla had thought that Joy’s pregnancy test was negative right before she left town, but Stephanie broke the news that Joy had lied.
Kayla tried to make Stephanie feel better by bringing up Tripp. Learning that Steve had a child with someone else was hard on Kayla, but it all worked out. She did note that Tripp was an adult by the time he came into their lives, but they still had to deal with Ava as the baby mama. Kayla reasoned that Joy would be much more preferable.
The doctor is in
Marlena was thrilled when Brady stopped by her office to tell her that he had made sure she could see Rachel. Kristen would no longer be allowed to make unilateral decisions about their shared daughter. However, Marlena was not happy to learn that Xander still wanted to make her work with Kate.
After Brady left, Stephanie popped in and gave Marlena an earful about her newest marital problems, thanks to a brand-new baby. Stephanaie also told Marlena how Jeremy was involved — and that he had kissed her. Stephanie went over her past relationship with Jeremy and concluded that it was the start of a cycle in which she chose the wrong men.
Stephanie was genuinely worried about her own actions and judgment. She wondered if her experiences with other men were making her now feel smothered and controlled by Alex. She was grateful for his support, but it was too much. Stephanie didn’t want to feel controlled by a man again.
Stephanie mentioned her talks with Alex about having children and how she worried about how this new baby would affect her marriage. Stephanie also wondered how she could be there for a child when she felt so emotionally unmoored right now.
Marlena was impressed that Stephanie could admit that to herself. She promised Stephanie that she was not letting Alex down. She also admitted that she wasn’t equipped to deal with another woman’s child.
Salem’s top cops
Jada visited Shawn to talk about his homecoming and care. When Shawn tried to show Jada how far he had come with his physical therapy, he fell into Jada’s arms and she had to help him back into bed. They both stayed silent about the close moment when Kayla walked in to check on her nephew.
At the nurses’ station, Sarah was happy to see Brady, but unhappy when he told her that Xander was making it difficult to bring Marlena onto Basic Black. They were frustrated with their exes, but were determined to make each other happy and rise above it.
Just then, Brady got a call from Steve that Sophia’s prints were found all over Holly’s skincare supplement bottle. Brady marched right into Shawn’s room to talk to the cops. Jada and Shawn were immediately all ears when Brady told them his story. Jada wanted to bring Sophia in for questioning. After Jada left, Shawn wished Brady luck with her new Black Patch career.
Chanel goes AWOL
Elsewhere in the hospital, Sarah supported Chanel through her mammogram, but asked her to wait to change back into her regular clothing, in case the radiologist needed more images. It turned out that the initial results left Chanel needing an ultrasound of her breast.
Sarah tried to hide how concerned she was, and encouraged Chanel to find Johnny so he could be there for her. As Chanel waited, she kept calling Johnny, but he didn’t answer.
Kayla and Sarah later met up by the coffee machines. Sarah told Kayla she had a patient with a bad history of cancer and miscarriages who now had a lump in her breast. Kayla knew it had to be Chanel. Sarah admitted she had a very bad feeling about this. When Sarah went to get Chanel for the ultrasound, she was surprised to see that her patient was gone.
Sophia goes insane
After Johnny came to, he realized he was tied to a chair in his own apartment with an unhinged Sophia standing there. She decided to go rogue and set a fire in the apartment with nail polish remover, a tealight candle, a red Solo cup, and a match. Kristen wanted her to shoot Johnny, but she thought this would be infinitely more fun.
Johnny tried to reason with a crazed Sophia, to no avail. She was convinced that Johnny ruined her life just by backing out on the adoption. He left her no choice but to give birth on her own in her bedroom and leave her baby at a firehouse. And for that, Johnny needed to die.
As it dawned on Johnny that Sophia meant to cause an explosion, he tried to make the sadistic girl think of everyone else in the building who could be hurt. Johnny begged for his life, but it did no good. Sophia felt Johnny was responsible for all of her problems and he had to pay, no matter what.
When Sophia noticed Chanel calling, she sent the call to voicemail as she taunted Johnny some more. Johnny tried to tell her that Chanel would be back soon and she could hurt Trey. But Sophia confidently told him that Chanel would be in Chicago all day, so no worries.
As Sophia tried to leave, she spotted a photo of Trey on the table and took it for herself as Johnny screamed. Finally, Chanel came bursting in with Trey. Johnny screamed for her to run, but she wasn’t leaving him. As she went to blow out the candle, the cup burst into flames and smoke filled the room.
Back in her bedroom, Sophia held the framed photo of Trey and sobbed on her floor. She then sat at her desk and wrote a note while holding a stuffed bear in her arms. When she read the note aloud, it sounded like a suicide note.
