Impossible star ‘cracking jokes’ after health scare

Ving Rhames has reportedly been released from the hospital, as told by his representative to TMZ. Updating on his condition, his manager told Variety that he sounds like himself.

While having a meal with his family at an LA restaurant on Wednesday, the actor suddenly collapsed. First responders soon arrived at the scene and took him to the medical facility. At that time, Rhames reportedly seemed to be semi-conscious.

Rhames has since recovered and is in good form, “cracking jokes,” as per his manager’s statement to the outlet. Ving Rhames, whose real name is Irving Rameses Rhames, has been active in the entertainment industry for over four decades now.

He has done many hit movies in his career, which include Pulp Fiction, Bringing Out The Dead, and Mission: Impossible – Fallout. He most recently appeared in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Additionally, he has two more projects lined up for release, which include The Mongoose and Painter.

Ving was reportedly taken to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, after the paramedics received a call at around 1:40 p.m. While Ving has not released any official statement about his recent hospital visit, a spokesperson for the actor told TMZ that he is thought to have fallen ill due to extreme heat, which led to his collapse.

Updating on his health, his manager, Brad Kramer, told Variety:

“He sounded like everyday Ving and cracked a joke over the phone.”

The recent update about his health has brought relief to his admirers. Last month, while talking to Fox News Digital, Ving Rhames admired working with Tom Cruise, saying:

“[What surprised me about him?] I’d say the fact that Tom Cruise does not see color,” Rhames said. “To work with a Caucasian actor who really didn’t see color, I was very moved by the experience.”

He added:

“[My favorite memories] are talking to him off-stage,” said Rhames. “Learning secrets he knew about the industry that he was able to talk to me about.”

Rhames further shared a piece of advice, saying:

[One big piece of advice is] to be in Hollywood, not of Hollywood. And that’s just from years of experience.”

Tom and Ving first met at the premiere of Pulp Fiction in a Central Park men’s room. Recalling the moment, he told Spotlight Report that the brief encounter left him surprised, as he told Cruise that he was working in the same movie, and Cruise said he would talk after the film.
