The Rebel Ragers Tour kicks off with an emotional tribute and a $1 donation per ticket
Kid Cudi wasted no time making the first night of his Rebel Ragers Tour mean something. Taking the stage at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix on Tuesday, April 28, Cudi opened his 33-date North American run with an emotionally charged performance — and a dedication that sent the crowd into a frenzy.
Before closing out his set with the Kids See Ghosts track Reborn, Cudi called out to the audience, urging them to sing as loud as possible so Ye could hear their voices. The moment landed as more than a concert gesture — it felt like an olive branch from one artist to another, delivered in front of thousands of fans who have followed both men through years of triumphs and turbulence.
What the Phoenix Crowd Witnessed
The dedication was the emotional peak of an already electric night. Reborn — a track built around themes of healing, resilience, and moving forward — carried particular weight given the complicated history between Cudi and Ye. The two have one of the most celebrated creative partnerships in hip-hop, stretching back to 808s and Heartbreak and reaching its peak with their 2018 collaborative project Kids See Ghosts. Their relationship has since gone through very public strains, making Tuesday’s gesture all the more striking.
After the show, Cudi took to his Instagram Stories to share his reaction, expressing pure exhilaration about the night. He called the Phoenix crowd exceptional and made clear he was ready to carry that energy through every remaining date on the tour.
The Rebel Ragers Tour Lineup and Dates
The Rebel Ragers Tour is a 33-date run produced by Live Nation, spanning from Phoenix all the way to Chula Vista, California, where it wraps on June 27. The tour features a stacked lineup of special guests across select dates, including
- M.I.A.
- Big Boi
- A-Trak
- me n ü
- Dot Da Genius presents GLKPRTY with Powers Pleasanton
Following Phoenix, the tour moves to Albuquerque, then continues through Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida before heading north and eventually wrapping out west. Notably, Cudi is donating $1 per ticket sold to The Big Bro Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting the mental health of at-risk youth.
Where Ye Stands Right Now
The dedication lands at a meaningful moment in Ye’s own story. His latest album Bully debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, moving 152,000 equivalent album units in its first week. The release was preceded by a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal in January, in which Ye publicly addressed his struggles with bipolar disorder and expressed remorse for the harm caused by his past behavior and hateful remarks.
Despite the musical comeback, Ye has faced serious consequences on the live circuit. His planned headline run at London’s Wireless Festival was canceled after he was denied entry into the United Kingdom by the Home Office in early April. Additional shows in Marseille, Poland, and Switzerland have also been called off or postponed amid ongoing controversy surrounding his past statements.
Why This Moment Resonates
For fans who have tracked both artists across two decades, the Rebel Ragers Tour opener felt like more than a concert. It was a reminder that despite everything — the fallouts, the controversies, the years of silence — the music that Kid Cudi and Kanye West made together still holds weight. Reborn as a closing dedication was not accidental. It was a statement.
Kid Cudi has 32 more shows ahead of him. If Phoenix set the tone, the rest of the tour is going to hit incredibly hard live.
