Should I Marry a Murderer: The truth behind the killing of Tony Parsons

It is true that this Netflix series is based on a real story. The story follows Caroline as she struggles with the painful decisions after discovering Tony Parsons’ death (the charity cyclist) due to her finances. According to the reports of BBC Scotland News, Tony was a man who never backed down from a challenge. His son Mike told the channel that his father survived prostate cancer and wanted to give something back by doing something meaningful.

He planned a charity cycle of 104 miles from Fort Williams to his home in Tillicoultry. On September 29 (Friday), 2017, he rode through the night. The family grew worried by Saturday evening because he had not been in touch for long hours. Soon after, he was reported missing and a large search began. Police confirmed that Tony passed through Glencoe Village at about 6 p.m. on Friday.

Later that night, he was seen at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel in Argyll at 11:30 p.m. Then, he continued south on the A82 towards Tyndrum. As the days went on Mike (former police officer) and his family became more anxious about Tony’s disappearance. Investigation reports also say that Alexander was driving drunk with his twin brother Robert in the car. After hitting Tony, they chose not to call for help. Instead, they hid his bike in a nearby forest.

Later, they came back in another vehicle, took his body, and buried it in a peat bog on the Auch Estate. The site was usually used for animal remains. Evidence shows that Tony did not die right away. He may have lived for 20-30 minutes after the crash. If the brothers had called emergency services, he might have survived.

Should I Marry a Murderer: How Caroline tricked her fiance to get caught red handed to the police?

In Should I Marry a Murderer, viewers saw Caroline’s fiance telling her to show her the spot where the body of Tony was buried. Her quick thinking helped solve a mystery that had troubled police for three years.

At the remote estate in Argyll, she quietly left a can of Red Bull at the spot to mark it. Then, she called the police and gave them the location. According to Mike (Tony’s son), without Caroline’s actions, his father’s body might never have been found. He shared his deep gratitude for what she had done.
