That was in a freak crash at Industry, California at the World Invitational last month.

Brennan, 24, felt his leg snap from under him as he entered a corner in practice.

In his first interview since the crash, he said: “I  came into the corner and just lost traction in the rear tyre.

“It was a weird mistake of mine. It put me off balance and then I practically folded my leg underneath me.

“I  heard my leg snap — which was disgusting.

“I was lying on the track for 20 minutes in agony before the medics came. It was a freak moment.”

It was the third time he has broken a leg.

He said: “I’ve done my left tibia and fibula. I also did my right tibia and fibula when I was ten years old on a grass track.

“I then did the right tib and fib in my crash at Eastbourne in 2019.”

Brennan is still in the USA as he cannot fly due to the risk of swelling — but is focused on returning when the season starts in March.

He added: “I  work very closely with the Great Britain team physio Chris Neville.

“He’s already got a plan for me to make sure I’m doing the right things and eating the right things.

“I reckon by the start of February I should be back and ready to ride. I’ll have a month to really get strong again.

“I can race with the rod and pins in the leg. I actually still have the rod and pins in my right leg from surgery in 2019.

“There’s no difference from my team plans for 2026. I’m just going to pick up from where I left off.”
