Billie Eilish posed for the May cover of Elle Magazine. The WILDFLOWER vocalist also gave an interview to the publication where she talked about her baggy clothes, brother Finneas, and other topics. Among others, Billie also talked about her views on ICE. She stood by her earlier statement, “f*ck ICE” and criticized billionaires for accumulating wealth.
In the interview, Billie mentioned that she was brought up this way. She criticized individuals with large platforms who choose not to use their influence to support others, simply to avoid controversy. Billie said:
“I was raised like this. When you have this insane platform that you can use to advocate for people, but you’re not advocating for people because you don’t want to be controversial? Why is it controversial to step in when someone’s getting bullied and try to stop it? Yeah, you’re probably gonna have to deal with some problems, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.”
Billie Eilish has repeatedly slammed ICE using her voice and her platforms. When Billie accepted her latest Grammy Award in February this year, she upset conservative politicians and commentators by speaking out against the increasing ICE raids. On stage, she said,
“No one is illegal on stolen land.”
Billie Eilish also talked about her brother Finneas
The bad guy singer broke the silence on rumors about a disagreement with her brother, Finneas. She said that she will never have a falling-out with her brother. She spoke about her relationship with her sibling, explaining how they argue one moment and make up just five minutes later. Billie said:
“Finneas and I have never and will never have a falling-out, ever in our lives. We’ll get in the biggest f*cking fight you’ve ever heard of in your life…and five minutes later, we’re back, laughing and making music. It’s sibling shit. There’s nothing else in the world like sibling relationships… If I never saw Finneas at all, I might literally never make a song again…. But how do we move on and have separate lives?”
Elsewhere, she also shared the reason behind wearing baggy clothes. She said that her love for hip-hop and her wish to be a man led her to wear baggy clothes. Billie Eilish added that she doesn’t want to be seen as feminine and weak.
“I’m not the first person who’s worn baggy clothes, I had a really, really toxic relationship with my body, I had a lot of eating issues. I remember putting on, like, a big shirt and the relief that I felt. At the same time, it was my love for hip-hop culture and wanting to be a man. This is the misogyny that we all have within us…which is that I didn’t want to be seen as feminine, and therefore weak. It’s not right. I’ve found a good way of not feeling like that.”
In related news, Billie Eilish is getting ready for the release of her concert film Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D), which will come out on May 8.
