Who is Nathan Chasing Horse? All about actor as he gets sentenced to life in prison for sexual assault

Nathan Chasing Horse received a life sentence over sexual assault charges on Monday. However, the actor has rejected the allegations against him, saying:

“This is a miscarriage of justice.”

The case began with his arrest three years ago. As per the recent reports, the prosecutors will decide the next steps after his appeals. A warrant for him is still active in Alberta.

The recent sentence was handed down by a Nevada judge after the conviction. Nathan Chasing Horse, also known as Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse, was found guilty on thirteen charges. These charges mainly included sexual assault and involved three women, according to CBS.

Nathan Chasing Horse is a Sicangu Lakota actor who has been active in the industry since 1990. The same year, he appeared in Dances with Wolves as the character Smiles A Lot, which became a hit. He also appeared on The Broken Chain and DreamKeeper, which added to his recognition.

Twenty years ago, he did a project titled Into The West, in which he appeared in three episodes as Sleeping Bear. His last reported project in which he appeared as an actor was Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.

Nathan Chasing Horse has one projected upcoming project titled The Red Man’s View, where he will play the character of Holy Man. The project is currently under pre-production with no release date revealed so far.

While he made his name as an actor, he also worked as an executive producer on Show After Hours.

As for his personal life, Nathan is the father of a daughter named Quannah Chasinghorse. Quannah is an Alaska Native model who has been active in the industry for seven years. She has also appeared in Vogue, Elle, and V Magazine.

She was also named a USA TODAY Women of the Year honoree for her advocacy work.

Three years ago, Quannah, in support of the victims, added a post on Instagram that read:

“I stand with the victims of Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse and those demanding justice and healing for the survivors, our communities and Indian Country overall. I hope you will join me in taking action by supporting organizations like the @niwrc in working to end the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit crisis.”

According to the prosecutors at the trial, the actor used his role as a spiritual leader to take advantage of Indigenous women and girls. According to one of the victims, Corena Leone-LaCroix, Nathan assaulted her when she was fourteen, and the abuse continued for years.

In a statement reported by CBS News, the victim’s mother said:

“Even to this day I struggle to regain my faith and spirituality”

Another victim said:

“I am choosing to see this moment as a fresh start. I will rebuild my life, reclaim my voice and continue fighting for the future I deserve”
