Spider-Noir assures fans that the series will not overlook its most important elements

When the first trailer for Spider-Noir was released, it wasn’t clear if the show was going to take a more realistic approach since its genre is both noir and superhero. Besides, initial news about the show also hinted at Ben Reilly being very different from Peter Parker, given his age and the time period he is from.

But now, the official trailer has assured fans that the series will not overlook its most important elements.

How Spider-Noir will maintain its core elements

The official trailer of Spider-Noir shows both sides of the protagonist. We see Ben Reilly investigating crime, primarily the disappearance of Cat Hardy’s friend, as we see her approach him for help. But then we also see him in action as The Spider. While earlier there were doubts about whether the show would feature the grandeur of the superhero genre, the new trailer clarifies how the core elements of the genre are going to be intact.

We see the print media of that time call the people who are misusing their superpowers, ‘monsters,’ and that is one way the show blends both the noir and superhero genres together. It blends the understanding and beliefs of the 1930s, while also admitting that individuals with superpowers exist. We then see The Spider swinging from an under-construction building as he tries to save his life and fight back against a super-powered enemy. There are also scenes of the villains, like Megawatt and James Addison, showcasing their power.

Thus, the show, while rooted in the noir genre, also blends in the core elements of the superhero genre, namely that of Spider-Man/Spider-Noir. There are actual villains with supernatural powers and a hero who can actually fight them with his own. We thus not only get a complicated private investigator, who has faced bad luck and lost the woman he loved, but also a hero who is doing his best to fight the criminals in his city.

Spider-Noir will star Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly/The Spider, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Karen Rodriguez as Janet, Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Abraham Popoola as Lonnie Lincoln / Tombstone, Jack Huston as Flint Marko / Sandman, Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, Lukas Haas as one of Silvermane’s subordinates, Andrew Lewis Caldwell as Dirk Leydon / Megawatt, and Jack Mikesell as James Addison. Additionally, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Amy Aquino, and Andrew Robinson will also star in undisclosed roles.

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot have executive-produced the show and serve as co-showrunners. Uziel is the developer. Other executive producers of the show are Harry Bradbeer, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, Aditya Sood, Dan Shear, Nicolas Cage, and Pavlina Hatoupis. The production companies behind the show are Sony Pictures Television, Lord Miller Productions, Pascal Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios.

All eight episodes of Spider-Noir will be released on MGM+ on May 25, 2026, and on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
