According to a recent article by US Weekly, Ethan Hawke finally breaks the silence on his daughter Maya Hawke’s wedding. Actress Maya Hawke got married to singer-songwriter Christian Lee Hutson in a surprise Valentine’s Day wedding.
On April 23, Thursday, at the Time 100 Gala in New York City, Ethan told Entertainment Weekly that the wedding was ‘pretty fun’.
“What really makes it is, you know, walking your daughter down the aisle. … I’ve had a lot of feelings in my life, and that was one I have no words for what that feels like,” said Ethan Hawke about the surprise wedding. “I have no vocabulary for that. I felt like I was 13 experiencing life for the first time, you know?”
Ethan and his ex-wife, Uma Thurman, share a daughter and a son named Levon, 24, and Maya, 27, the Stranger Things actress. Additionally, he and his current wife, Ryan Shawhughes, have daughters, Clementine, 17, and Indiana, 14.
Ethan further went on to praise his daughter’s husband and called Christian ‘an amazing young man’.
“The man she married is an amazing young man, Christian, so I’m a very lucky individual,” said Ethan.

On February 14, Maya’s parents and her Stranger Things co-stars, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, and Joe Keery, attended the surprise New York City wedding between Maya and Christian.
At the opening of her film Wishful Thinking in March, Maya Hawke spoke about her marriage for the first time, describing it as “absolutely fantastic.”
I am a very, very lucky person who’s very happy right now,” Maya told People at the time. “And yeah, I couldn’t be more grateful.”
“I feel so lucky to have found my best friend and to have someone I can tell anything to,” Maya told Page Six. “It makes something like getting married feel like, ‘Oh, of course,’ you know, not like, ‘What?’ And I’m very, very, very lucky, so I’m really happy.”
After being first connected in 2023, Maya and Christian appeared to conceal their engagement until the day of their wedding.
“I heartily suggest dating your buddies. When Maya appeared on The Zach Sang Show in 2024, she remarked about falling in love with her partner, “It’s the best. They are familiar with you as a person who has dated other individuals. They are more than simply a piece of paper to project their ideal of [the] ideal girlfriend upon; they truly know you as a person with emotions. Feeling like way is the finest.”
