Will Big Mistakes Season 2 happen? Here’s what Dan Levy has said

Big Mistakes ends where it actually feels like the beginning of something bigger than Season 1. Nothing is manageable anymore, as it has become complicated beyond repair. Morgan and Nicky’s decision might cost them way more than they thought it would, now that the whole family is in the picture. Big Mistakes saves the best for last with its insane twist that nobody expected.

The show, however, allows its characters to feel like they can still save themselves. Nicky is still holding onto this idea of being a good person, though quite the opposite is true, as he has gone against everything he stands for, or once stood for. He tries to morally justify every bad choice. He even lies to people around him and hides things from them. Morgan, on the other hand, seems like the least dramatic person in the family, but now it feels like she is the one chasing drama. Stealing that necklace gave her the life she wanted, something happening instead of a boring, mundane one.

Big Mistakes introduces us to Annette as just another character. But she is actually the one making the calls, deciding everything, even owning the Italians who kidnapped Morgan and Nicky. She is controlling the entire operation. This means Morgan is in deep. She is engaged to her son, and after that threat from Annette towards the end of the show, she is probably stuck with him forever. Unless, of course, she has a genius exit strategy.

The finale only made us wonder what is going to happen next, and maybe even discuss future plots. So, a second season is not unrealistic and feels very much like a possibility, though Netflix has not officially said anything in this regard.

Big Mistakes Season 2 could go deeper into the trap, and Dan Levy has already hinted at it

Big Mistakes Season 2 has not been officially confirmed yet. But if you go by what Dan Levy has said, it is clear as day that the story is not over. He is thinking bigger, which makes sense because Big Mistakes has not even explored the full extent of its world yet. There are still a lot of layers to peel, like the cartel, the family ties, and the emotional mess between the characters. Dan Levy, at the premiere of the show, shared with TV Insider:

“Oh, I know exactly what I want to see in the second season of the show. A lot of the show is written in my head at this point. All I know is that if we are given the opportunity to tell a second season, it’s going to be bigger and better, and I can’t wait to get back to the writer’s room because we have a big old story to tell.”

Big Mistakes has already put Morgan and Nicky in a position where they cannot walk away. They have seen too much and been involved in too much. In the previous episodes, you could still imagine them escaping. But in the finale, that option is gone. Big Mistakes proves itself to be a show where its characters cannot outrun the consequences of their actions.

Toning down Annette to just an antagonist would be wrong. She is more than that. Annette is someone who controls everything, yet even she has a weak point, her son Max. So Morgan is also someone Annette cannot afford to lose. The relationship between Morgan and Max becomes a kind of protection, but also a pressure point that can break at any time.

In Big Mistakes, Morgan is engaged to Max, and that engagement is now tied to control and keeping the system intact. If their relationship fails, it will disrupt the entire network. Also, Nicky and Morgan are not masterminds. They are people who made one bad decision and kept making more. They are not planning their way out, they are reacting, panicking, and digging themselves deeper. Season 2, if it happens, will likely push them to a point where they will have to come up with an exit strategy that stands a chance of working.

With all of that, and Big Mistakes sitting in a strong position with solid viewership and a story that is just beginning, there is a strong possibility of a renewal.
