Do we finally have a release window for the Disney show’s upcoming chapter? Details revealed

X-Men ’97 Season 2 is premiering this Summer, but there is a catch, it will premiere exclusively in 2026 Tribeca Festival. The official Tribeca website has scheduled the premiere for this June, meaning we can also get the season on Disney+ soon. As of now, Marvel hasn’t confirmed the release date for season 2, and the marketing campaign has also not started yet.

However, we may see that change soon as we may get a trailer for the upcoming season soon. But we already know that season 2 will be streaming on Disney+ this Summer. Therefore, we may learn more about X-Men ’97 Season 2 soon.

Here’s when the Tribeca Festival scheduled the X-Men ’97 Season 2 premiere:

The official Tribeca page lists June 13, 2026 as the premiere date for X-Men ’97 Season 2. As of now, they have not confirmed the number of episodes to be presented there, so we can assume that only the first episode will be screened there. If you are a fan planning to attend the screening, make sure to land at the screening room before 02:30 PM.

The Tribeca page doesn’t have an official synopsis for the upcoming season, but the logline does offer a barebones version of the plot of the entire series:

“A band of mutants use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them; they’re challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.”

What do we know about season 2?

The X-Men ’97 Season 2 premiere will probably pick up right where the season 1 finale ended, the X-Men scattered across the time stream. Of these, Magneto, Professor X, Nightcrawler, Rogue, and Beast come across a “young” En Sabah Nur in ancient Egypt, who hasn’t become the super villain Apocalypse yet.

In the season 1 finale post-credit scene, we also see him fight the soldiers of pharaoh Rama-Tut. For the uninitiated, pharaoh Rama-Tut is one of the many variants of Kang the Conquerer. Therefore, X-Men ’97 Season 2 may also show a character, who at one point was to play a pivotal role in the multiversal saga of the MCU.

As for what t expect from the second season, Ross Marquand teased that fans will see a lot of characters die in the second season in September 2025:

“I’m amazed Disney greenlit it because it’s so dark. It’s very, very dark. A lot of people die, and so many people don’t talk about it. Just being honest.”

Moreover, Marquand also teased that we will learn more about Apocalypse in the upcoming season:

“I can’t say much obviously, because Disney will shoot me to death. But I can say that I play Apocalypse in the next season, as well. There’s a really wonderful back and forth between Xavier and Apocalypse in several scenes. I think people are really going to look at the character of Apocalypse in a way that they never have before. And certainly, as a viewer of the original series from when I was a kid, I’m very excited to dive into the psychosis and the basic trauma of what made En Sabah Nur turn into Apocalypse. It’s a really interesting journey, I think people are gonna love it.”

Season 2 of the acclaimed X-Men animated show will premiere on June 13, 2026 at 02:30 PM.
