Here is your The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, April 22, 2026 featuring Patty taunting Phyllis and Diane, Michael’s big warning to Lauren, and the latest step of Victor’s grand plan.
What happened on The Young and the Restless

Diane received a knock at her door, and it appeared that Jack was trying to buy his way back into her heart. It would take much more than a grand romantic gesture to scrub the image of him and Patty playing mattress tag on the yacht.
Diane read a card handwritten by Jack. This man poured his heart out to his beloved wife, and he took fully accountability for the hurt he caused. However, Diane should take a moment to look in the mirror and recall the way she allowed Jack and Kyle to believe that she was MURDERED. Jack’s romp with Patty pales in comparison to some of Diane’s previous misdeeds.
Diane attempted to leave the GCAC, but her day went from bad to fully psychotic. As she tried to escape the building, Patty walked in, gloating about her recent release from a psychiatric facility. Diane was gobsmacked that anyone allowed Patty back onto the streets, but all Patty cared about was rubbing her bedroom ballet with Jack in Diane’s face.
Patty believed wholeheartedly that she and Jack were star-crossed lovers, somehow finding their way back to one another. She wanted to be the shoulder for Jack to cry on about his marriage being on life support. Patty dredged up old history, including losing her and Jack’s unborn child after she spotted Jack and Diane sleeping together.
There was no shortage of crimes between the two women, but unlike Diane, Patty has yet to prove herself to be a truly reformed member of society. Patty thought Diane’s facade was cracking, and it was evident that she was deeply embedded in Diane’s mind.
When sorry isn’t enough

At the Abbott Mansion, Kyle did his best to talk business with his father, but Jack’s mind was anywhere but work. Kyle asked Jack to table the discussion for the time being because he was far too focused on his marital woes.
Nikki dropped by for a surprise visit and noted that her good friend had reached peak exhaustion. Nikki informed Jack that Diane was also avoiding the office, and although that wasn’t ideal, he realized she’d be there awaiting his latest surprise.
Although Diane was furious at Jack, he only blamed Victor for the current breakdown of his marriage. Nikki understood and compared the idea of reuniting with Victor as an impossible dream. Both marriages were facing the end of the road, and the two, further leaning on each other, felt inevitable.
Diane popped in, disappointed but not surprised to see Jack and Nikki together again. She was aghast that Jack thought a piece of jewelry would be enough to bring her home. Sadly, she refused to accept it, and no matter what Jack did, nothing was good enough to piece his marriage back together.
Taking on The Mustache

Lauren wanted Michael to explain a bit better what Victor planned to do in his efforts to destroy Summers Conglomerate. Victor was ready to teach Phyllis a lesson, and Lauren was poised to be caught in the crossfire. Unfortunately for Michael, Lauren was ready to go 10 rounds with The Mustache.
Michael pleaded with his wife to think things through, because he didn’t want her to go down with the sinking ship. Lauren didn’t think of herself as a fairytale damsel that needed Michael to save her from the fire-breathing dragon named Victor Newman.
Lauren knew that Victor had sent Michael to warn her about his ongoing attack. Michael scoffed at the idea that Lauren thought he was playing her, and she reminded him that it had happened before. The plan was already in motion, and Lauren and Phyllis were well aware of what he was up to.
Lauren made her pitch for Michael to become the head of Summers Conglomerate’s legal team. However, Lauren was naive about Victor’s plan. The mass exodus occurring was only the beginning. Victor was planning something far more crippling to bring Phyllis and Lauren to their knees. It wasn’t just Phyllis and Lauren who were going down in all of this; Billy and Cane were targets as well.
Cracks in the crown

Phyllis spotted Victoria sitting at a table at Society, and she couldn’t help but cause a scene. Phyllis was geared up for a war of words, but Victoria was primed and ready as well. Victoria denied any knowledge of Victor’s recent move on Phyllis.
Phyllis showed no signs of backing down. She was determined to stand tall amid the chaos, but this time, it looked like more than ever she could take on. Say what you want about Phyllis, but she certainly never lacks in the confidence department. Losing a slew of employees wasn’t enough to throw Phyllis off her game.
If Victoria was not who Phyllis wanted to see at Society, Christine walking in next was the Mount Everest of unwelcome appearances. The women were meeting, and it spelled trouble for Phyllis and the global empire slipping from her fingers.
Christine was a bit taken aback to learn that the Newman family was well aware of her recent job offer at the DA’s office.
Kyle walked up to Phyllis, seemingly noticing the toll being at the top of Genoa City’s corporate ladder was taking on her. Phyllis took it as a compliment because she touted an enjoyment of being at the top of the food chain. She was determined to take on anyone and everyone who stood in her way.
Phyllis returned home to the GCAC and nearly lost her mind upon seeing Patty. She heard a rumor that Patty was on the loose, but hearing and seeing are two different things. All she wanted was an answer about who facilitated her release.
Victor summoned Patty to the ranch, and he complimented her on her stellar results in destroying Jack and Diane’s marriage. Victor wanted to pay Patty for her performance ability, and he handed her a bag filled with more cash than anyone could have ever imagined. Victor hoped that Patty would leave town, but she had begun to feel right at home.
