Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, on April 22. Sheets was a famous television personality who appeared in Storage Wars for almost thirteen years.
Born in California, Sheets made a name for himself soon after joining the show and was known by his name, “The Gambler.” He also appeared on Rachael Ray‘s chat show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Three years ago, he appeared on a TV series titled Toon In With Me, created by Neal Sabin.
Sheets was sixty-seven years old at the time of his death. He was reportedly divorced from Kimber Wuerf, with whom he shared two children.
According to an official statement released by the Lake Havasu City Police Department:
“Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene, and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation.”
What have authorities revealed about Darrell Sheets death?
According to the Lake Havasu City Police Department, Darrell Sheets was found dead at his home, located in western Arizona. He is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. After his body was found, it was sent to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for continued investigation.
Amid this, allegations of cyberbullying have also surfaced, as another Storage Wars cast member, Rene Nezhoda, shared a video on Instagram explaining that while many thought they both were haters in the show, it was mostly because both were competitors and deep down they were friends.
He further admired Darrell Sheets, before adding:
“He had a guy really, really tormenting him lately and cyberbullying him. Guys, just ’cause you watch us on television doesn’t mean you know us. It doesn’t mean you know what we’re about. Also, it doesn’t entitle you to bully somebody.”
He added:
“Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that’s been cyberbullying him and tormenting him, and I really hope they look into that guy, and it’s just not a pass because it’s just not right, guys.”
Authorities have also addressed the allegations in a statement that reads:
“We are aware of these cyberbullying accusations and that is a part of the active investigation.”
A spokesperson for A&E said in a statement that read:
“We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell “The Gambler” Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time”
On Storage Wars, Darrell Sheets was loved for his all-in style of bidding, where he took big risks without playing safe most of the time. His bio on the A&E website reads:
“After years in the business, Darrell no longer collects: “The only thing I collect these days is dead presidents.” Darrell takes pride in the adventure and education storage buying has provided him. “
The investigation into the case is still ongoing. At the time of writing this article, no names have been officially linked to the alleged cyberbullying in the case.
