Born Again? Showrunner Dario Scardapane gives the answer

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has brought back Jessica Jones, and set images from Season 3 revealed that Luke Cage and Iron Fist are going to be a part of the upcoming season. Thus, the show is slowly bringing back many heroes from the original Daredevil show, and fans might be wondering if Elektra will appear in future seasons of Daredevil: Born Again.

Elektra, the Greek assassin who was an ally and romantic partner to Matt Murdock in Daredevil, was last seen in the last episode of The Defenders, where it seemed that she and Matt had died. While Matt was shown to be alive later on, it is yet to be confirmed if Elektra is alive. With most original characters from Daredevil coming back, Elektra might return as well. Here’s what showrunner Dario Scardapane had to say on the matter.

Dario Scardapane on if Elektra will return in Daredevil: Born Again

Elektra was quite a strong and interesting character in Daredevil. She was Matt’s former college girlfriend and later came back to his life and recruited him to kill The Hand. In Daredevil Season 2, she was killed by a high-ranking leader of The Hand called Nobu Yoshioka, but it was later revealed that she is the weapon that can destroy The Hand. Elektra was also resurrected and retrained by The Hand to fight on their side, but later switched sides to destroy the organization. In the attempt to do that, Ektra seemingly died, but her death has not yet been confirmed.

Given that Jessica Jones has returned in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, and Luke Cage and Iron Fist are expected to appear in Season 3, it would make perfect sense to bring back Elektra, too. When asked by Nexus Point News if Elektra and Colleen might be brought back, too. Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane said,

“The best way I could put this without giving too much away is that what we do when we’re in the writer’s room is we go and look at some of the iconic comic book runs. We look at a lot of the things that seem to make sense in the story that we’re moving forward, and then when the time comes to bring a character in or to add a storyline, we have our wish list. Everybody you have mentioned so far is on that wish list. There’s the stuff that I would love to do, there’s the stuff that they’re doing in the larger MCU and sometimes those align and sometimes they don’t.”

He continued,

“The world that we’re doing with this show is very Frank Miller-esque, for lack of a better word. Chip [Zdarsky] and [Brian Michael] Bendis, those artists and writers, they have a very kind of particular tone and a particular sweet spot, and a lot of the characters that you’ve mentioned work in that sweet spot. So that was my roundabout way of saying I would love to, but I’m not gonna answer specifically.”

We’re not saying Scardapane has confirmed Elektra and Colleen’s return, but the fact that he hasn’t outright stated they aren’t returning means that they just might. It makes sense for Scardapane not to reveal anything crucial at this point, given that the fans have already seen set images of Mike Colter and Finn Jones as Luke Cage and Iron Fist, respectively. Thus, the chances of Elektra returning are high.
