“Beef was 2 years ago”- Internet reacts as Drake fans spam Kendrick Lamar’s IG posts with ice emojis amid ICEMAN release buzz

Fans and followers of Drake couldn’t be more thrilled as the release date for his ninth album, ICEMAN, has been finalized. As per Hypebeast, the Hotline Bling hitmaker, Drake, whose original name is Aubrey Drake Graham, will be dropping his much-awaited studio album on May 15, 2026.

Following several months of social media speculations, the Passionfruit singer, Drake, announced the release date of his upcoming album by installing and featuring a 25-foot ice sculpture in the middle of his hometown, Toronto, Canada.

What appeared to be a marketing strategy and a promotion tactic for his ninth studio album, the huge ice sculpture had a blue waterproof bag, which had “freeze the world” written on it, hidden inside it. However, in the bag, there was a book of concept art and the release date of his brand-new upcoming album.

As cited by Hypebeast, it was Kishka, a prominent Twitch streamer, who visited the ice installation in Toronto and broke through the ice and got hold of the blue waterproof bag. However, as the release date of the album was revealed, Kishka was reportedly presented with $100,000 in cash.

Amid the revelation of ICEMAN‘s release date, Drake’s fans have recently been spamming the 27-time Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar’s Instagram posts with ice emojis. The unexpected move, which is a coordinated effort by Drake’s fans, is serving as a promotion for ICEMAN.

Another reason for Drake’s fans to spam Lamar’s IG posts is their longtime feud, which first began in 2013, escalating in March 2024. As the spamming news was shared by the media outlet RapTV on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, a netizen commented:

“Beef was 2 years ago btw.”
