A legal fight that keeps getting messier
The legal dispute between NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs and social media personality Christopher Blake Griffith has entered a new phase, and this time the pressure is squarely on Diggs. Griffith’s legal team has filed a motion asking a judge to force Diggs to turn over financial records, arguing that the former Patriots receiver cannot claim damages in a lawsuit while refusing to cooperate with the very process designed to test those claims.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Griffith’s attorneys accuse Diggs of stonewalling the discovery process. Their position is direct. If Diggs is suing over reputational and financial harm, he has to actually show the receipts.
What Griffith is asking the court to do
The motion to compel is a legal mechanism designed to force a party to produce evidence they have been withholding. Griffith’s team argues that Diggs filed the defamation lawsuit as a way to silence Griffith while simultaneously avoiding the scrutiny that comes with it. In the filing, Griffith’s legal team makes clear that Diggs cannot pursue legal claims of damage and then block the process that would verify whether that damage is real.
Diggs has not made any public statement in response to the latest filings.
How this dispute started
The conflict traces back to May 2023, when Diggs, Griffith, and other influencers attended a charity basketball game in Washington, D.C. Griffith alleges that after the event, the group went to Diggs’ home, where an incident took place. He claims Diggs offered him something described as candy that turned out to be a drug, followed by unwanted sexual advances. He has also alleged that Diggs’ brother later physically attacked him in an effort to keep him quiet.
Diggs has denied all of it. His position is that Griffith fabricated the entire story for online clout and that the allegations caused serious damage to his reputation and career.
Stefon Diggs and the defamation lawsuit
In November 2025, Diggs filed a defamation suit against Griffith, accusing him of knowingly spreading false information. The lawsuit came after Griffith made his allegations public and used his social media platform to tag the NFL, the New England Patriots, and brands associated with Diggs. Diggs is seeking damages and attorney’s fees.
Griffith, for his part, has maintained that the lawsuit is a tactical move designed to shut him up rather than seek justice. The October 2024 claim against Diggs’ brother added another layer to an already complicated situation.
Stefon Diggs and the public reaction
The case has drawn attention beyond the courtroom. Rapper Cardi B publicly defended Diggs, posting that Griffith had lied and that documentation existed to support that claim. She also noted that Griffith had previously made allegations against boxer Gervonta Davis and changed his story multiple times. Her comments amplified the public debate but did not change the legal trajectory.
The court has yet to rule on Griffith’s motion to compel. If the judge sides with Griffith, Diggs will be required to produce the financial records his accuser is seeking. That outcome could significantly shift how both sides build their arguments around credibility and proven harm going forward.
The case remains active and both parties are expected to continue pressing their positions in court.
