General Hospital’s Jason Morgan is languishing away in international prison for a crime the career criminal didn’t commit. That means there is a void in Sonny’s life that not even his brother, Ric, can fulfill. It’s a good thing someone else is ready to take over as enforcer extraordinaire at any moment.
Enter General Hospital’s Ethan Lovett

It looks like Ethan’s return is not just a drive-by as it was the last few times we had seen him. In 2015 and 2020, he never even made to Port Charles, but by 2023, he had a few moments with Holly, while played by James Ryan. With Nathan Dean (formerly Parsons) back in the role, fans had hoped he would stick arond this time and it looks like he will.
Ethan is ready to settle down for a while with family and loved ones, so he will live with Lulu (Alexa Havins) while striking up a new adult friendship with Kristina (Kate Mansi). But he needs a job and since his skills are a little on the above the law, shady side, the best person to go to is his late dad’s BFF. And the timing couldn’t be more perfect.
Step aside, Ric

Although Ric (Rick Hearst) is a lawyer, he is enjoying his status as his brother’s current right-hand man. He even delivers awful news to his ex-wife, just to make Sonny (Maurice Benard) happy. However, Ric can’t do the things that Jason (Steve Burton) can do. And can Jason even do those things anymore since he never took a shot at Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) when he was up on that roof and had him in his crosshairs?
We know that Ethan isn’t afraid to get in some skirmishes and skirt the law. After all, his mother is conwoman Holly Sutton (Emma Samms). He has been running cons for years and has become quite good at flying under the radar.
Ethan can be just who and what Sonny needs right now, even if Ric is a little suspicious of him and may think he is a plant. He gave Ethan some side eye on the April 20th episode, as he is not sure what to make of the younger man. But Ric is going to have to learn to share Sonny. He may also learn a thing or two from Sonny about who you can trust and who you cannot. The question is — what happens to Ethan when Jason returns? Will the hitman finally hang up his gun?
