Taylor Frankie Paul discussed the tough journey towards recovery after prosecutors decided not to pursue charges following accusations of recent domestic abuse against her former partner, Dakota Mortensen.
On Sunday, Apr. 19, the The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives published a number of pictures, accompanied by a lengthy caption that details her sentiments regarding the “ugly parts” of healing following months of public scrutiny. She said:
“Here come the ugly parts of what healing actually looks like. If you know me you know I’ll admit my parts, flaws and faults. I’m well aware that’s a part of it. We’ll get there.”
Taylor Frankie Paul’s post came several days after authorities confirmed no charges would move forward in connection with earlier investigations.
Two investigations relating to domestic abuse cases had been filed at two different police stations in Utah during February involving Taylor and Dakota.
In her new post, she admitted her imperfections but explained how she felt about all the negative publicity from the investigations.
“This public atrocity that I not only lived through once but twice now, on even a bigger scale was ultimately the cost to my freedom. I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy or even the ones who publicized it. I cried on my knees in pain while also saying THANK YOU.”
Taylor Frankie Paul reflects on faith amid her healing journey: “I believe God held me through and sent help”
According to Taylor Frankie Paul, the whole scenario also put her through personal issues while she continued on with her journey.
“We have a road ahead but regardless I’m forever freed from a certain living hell I couldn’t find my way out of. Somehow I’m still here… as we can see barely because I believe God held me through and sent help plus an army which makes me cry because, thank you to all of you that supported even without full context.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star continued:
“God undoubtedly had a hand in this because after waiting 7 weeks on the 7th day EXACTLY I received the call all charges dropped. …We’re working on eating, movement, rest, and retraining the nervous system. I’ll be sharing the process, because if my worst is shared, better bet I’ll share the rebuilding, too.”
In February 2026, the Draper City Police Department received information related to a new case of domestic violence, which had charges made in both directions. Reports stated that Taylor Frankie Paul had a fight with Dakota.
This resulted in the delay of the Season 5 shoot of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Taylor Frankie Paul also got dropped out of her involvement in Season 22 of The Bachelorette.
TMZ, later on, released a video of the pair’s physical altercation, which reportedly took place in 2023.
