The footage shows Ice Spice seated in a booth when the woman, who later identified herself as Vayah, walked over with a group. What followed was a brief but heated exchange before Vayah slapped the rapper across the face. Ice Spice immediately reacted, jumping across restaurant furniture as the situation escalated. The confrontation continued outside, where both women were seen fighting again on the pavement.
What Vayah is claiming happened
Vayah told her side of the story to TMZ, saying she and her group had stopped at the restaurant to use the restroom and recognized Ice Spice. She claimed she walked over to introduce herself and pay a compliment but was met with hostility from the jump.
According to Vayah, Ice Spice told her to leave and became argumentative when she pushed back. She said the situation crossed a line when Ice Spice called her a derogatory name, which she claims is what prompted her to strike. Vayah also alleged that Ice Spice grabbed her friend’s phone and threw it, cracking the screen. She wrapped up her account by saying the experience cost Ice Spice a fan.
What the security footage actually shows
The security footage from inside the restaurant tells a noticeably different story. In the video, Vayah is seen approaching the table and asking if the group was ready to dance. Ice Spice responded with a dismissive remark and told her to go ahead and do it elsewhere. Vayah then asked where Ice Spice was from before the exchange heated up further and she slapped the rapper.
The footage is expected to play a significant role in the LAPD investigation, and legal observers have noted that verbal exchanges, regardless of how heated, do not legally justify physical assault.
The legal response from Ice Spice’s camp
Ice Spice‘s attorney, Bradford Cohen, confirmed to TMZ that the incident has been reported to the LAPD and that the team is pursuing all available criminal and civil options. Cohen also put the restaurant on notice, citing what he described as a clear lack of appropriate security measures. He made it plain that the only thing going viral for the people involved will be their mugshots.
